Uber Joins Lyft to Offer Free Rides to the Polls on Election Day
Voters who need transportation to cast ballots on Election Day can hitch a free ride through Uber.
On Thursday, the company said it was going to offer rides to the polls on Nov. 6, at no charge to anyone in the US. However, the costless rides won't exist distributed directly through the Uber app, but through two nonprofit initiatives, #VoteTogether and Democracy Works.
Both will be issuing promo codes that piece of work on the Uber app. In the instance of Democracy Works, the group plans on offer the promo codes through its election reminder tool at TurboVote.org, which already has 5 one thousand thousand registered users.
